From teachers to school nutrition staff, a wide variety of positions still available
HENRICO, Va., Sept. 26, 2025 — Henrico County Public Schools has 74 schools and program centers, and the division’s Facilities Department makes sure HCPS campuses are ready for more than 50,000 students and 7,000 employees. HCPS is now hiring for a variety of positions, including plumbers, electricians, commercial HVAC technicians, carpenters, cabinetmakers and custodians to join the Facilities Department. Seeking custodial and maintenance (facilities) staff, substitute bus drivers, school nutrition staff, school security officers, instructional assistants, substitute teachers and classroom teachers.

Open Facilities Department positions:
Mechanical trades:
Commercial HVAC technicians: Experience in HVAC installation, diagnostics, repair and maintenance.
Plumbers: Experience in installation and repair of domestic, sanitary, storm, natural gas, propane and plumbing systems.
Electricians: Experience in all facets of electrical work, including new and replacement wiring, installation of panels, fixtures, switches, relays, transformers and control devices.
Architectural trades:
Carpenters and cabinetmakers: Experience in rough and finish carpentry, cabinetmaking, laminate work, and tools and equipment used in woodworking and construction.
Custodians:
Lead custodians (elementary schools): Ability to supervise custodial staff and school maintenance to high standards of cleanliness, safety and functionality. Ideal candidates will have strong custodial leadership experience and a commitment to creating a clean and welcoming environment for students, staff and visitors.
Lead custodians (secondary schools): Ability to oversee custodial operations across a large campus or multiple facilities. Strong supervisory experience, expertise in cleaning and maintenance, and ability to lead teams while ensuring a safe, clean and well-organized environment.
Custodial workers: Experience in basic custodial practices, with thorough understanding of cleaning protocols, supply management and equipment for maintaining and ensuring a consistently clean, safe and well-maintained facility.
